Christy Francis
Artist & Owner
Christy is a multidisciplinary teaching artist, painter, and photographer. Her work is in a number of private collections within (and beyond) Western New York. In 2025, she founded Howling Woman Studio.
Christy's work as a pop surrealist painter considers the lovely and often unsettling experiences of womanhood and girlhood, exploring the tension between what we show the world and our inner dialogue.
Locally, Christy's paintings were featured as part of Amid/In WNY 2026 at Hallwalls Contemporary Art Center. Her work was in the 2026 AHA! (Annual Hallwalls Auction!) and the Burchfield Penney Art Center's 2025 and 2026 Art Auction and Gala. Christy's work was added to the Erie County Public Art Collection in 2025. She's shown with Revolution Art Gallery, Wild Things Artisan Gallery ('Boulder Creatures' solo show), and Hunt Art Gallery. In 2026, she joined Hunt Residencies as part of Cohort X.
Beyond Western New York, Christy has worked with Poetic Tiger Gallery, Evolved Art Gallery, and Faultline Artspace. In 2026, she's anticipating work with Curio Art Gallery, based in Portugal. Her work was selected for ART MAKER Issue 4, Inner Worlds, juried by artist Nadine Tralala and scheduled for publication in late 2026.
Christy is a former instructor (specializing in business and marketing) for the Arts Management Graduate Program at University at Buffalo, and a marketing consultant.
